Two interviews on this
week's show with key players from the Dun Laoghaire Festival, which takes
place this coming weekend. Jody Ackland is the Festival Director, and Nick
Page is the leader and convenor of one of the most interesting Festival
prospects, Dub Colossus.
Nearly all the music on the
programme is from artists appearing at the Festival - details of their shows
are below. Many of the highlights are free, and much of the main outdoor
stage output is highly recommended both days. Jody particularly highlighted
the Mela (People's Park - Saturday), Hotel Kiev (Marine Hotel gardens -
Saturday night), and Feast Americana (Clarinda Park - next to People's Park
- Sat and Sun).
My pick of the other events
would be to bear witness to one of the world's most influential drummers
(Tony Allen - Purty Kitchen - Saturday night), and get devotional at the
Sufi Night in the Pavilion (Sunday).
My DJ involvement is the
head-to-head soundclash face-off in the Marine Hotel bar on Sunday night at
10. Expect sparks! (Wicklow Dance Club vs Ruaille Buaille).
Have a good weekend!
Here is the playlist for
