THE MUSICIANS
LUCA BREMBILLA (Guitar): Luca is a young guitarist and composer from Bergamo, Italy. He approached the music world with the study of guitar and in 2010 obtained his Master’s Degree in ‘Classical Guitar Performance’ at the ‘Luca Marenzio’ Conservatory of Brescia. In the same year he graduated in ‘Science & Technology of Musical Communication’ at the ‘Milan State University’ with a thesis that explored the possibilities of information technology applied to classical music.
Apart from classical music Luca also developed his own style on the electric guitar whilst playing in several modern, contemporary and fusion-music ensembles. His interest in music as a universal language brought him to the concept of “Music as Music” an aside from stylistic and genre preconceptions.
Improvisation and experimentation are key elements in his production so in 2013 he took a ‘Master of Music’ in ‘New Audiences and Innovative Practice’ attending both the ‘Prince Claus Conservatory’ of Groningen, The Netherlands and the ‘Iceland Academy of the Arts’ in Reykjavik. He is actively involved in several projects that see him performing all over Europe in a variety of contexts and music genres: Drone Duo – electric guitar and church organ duo. Bartrock Project – electric guitar and violin duo. BiancoSporco – traditional Italian folklore. LULU – heavy rock trio, as well as solo performances on classical and electro-acoustic guitars.
LUCA VERGA (Accordion & Vocals): Born in Italy in 1984, Luca was introduced to music as a child taking piano and singing lessons. His passion and expertise grew with him as he moved on to study Opera at the CDPM of Bergamo with Giovanni Guerini and Filippo Quarti, tenors at the ‘Gaetano Donizetti’ Theatre.
At the age of sixteen Luca took private lessons in accordion, two years later he founded ‘The Green Bricks’ an eight piece ska band with whom he toured Northern Italy until 2010. After high school, Luca enrolled in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, ‘University of Milan’, where he studied & obtained a degree in Contemporary History. For the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy he was commissioned a research work which culminated in the show ‘L’Italia, una storia da cantare’.
In 2011 Luca moved to Galway, Ireland and joined Kalanguetal, a band playing traditional Brazilian music and where he founded, with Maestro Luca Brembilla, BiancoSporco with the intent of exploring and exposing traditional Italian music. With these formations he has frequently performed in the crowded streets of Galway and on prestigious stages in Dublin. In 2013 he began a collaboration with Annie Chambers, harpist and street artist enjoying considerable success at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
DAVIDE DIANA (Percussion): Born in Rome and originally self-taught, Davide eventually studied in Italy with drummers and percussionists of international fame such as Raul "Cuervo" Scebba, Emanuele Smimmo, Clarence Penn, Roberto Gatto… and many more
Moving to Groningen in the netherlands in 2011he got the chance to study with Steve Altenberg, Gene Jackson and Han Bennink at the Prince Claus Conservatory of Groningen. Whilst in Groningen Davide also got the opportunity to perform with jazz icons David Berkman, Robin Eubanks, Freddy Bryant, Don Braden and Alex Sipiagin.
Through study and performance Davide has developed a broad vocabulary of techniques embracing a range of styles that includes Rock, Latin, Afro-Cubans rhythms, Funk, Jazz & Be-bop. Davide regularly performs across continental Europe with a variety of different music projects.
