Sekouba (Bambino) Diabate from Guinea is one of the greatest West African Griot performers ever to grace the stage. With a voice as remarkable and unmistakeable as Salif Keita, Bambino's career really began as a teenager in the mid-70s when he replaced the lead vocalist with Guinea's best known band Bembeya Jazz. Since then he has performed with Africando and toured with his own musicians.

In 1998 and 1999 we toured Bambino through Europe and Scandinavia with 2 other West African Griots, Kandia Kouyate from Mali and Oumou Diabate also from Guinea, on a project named The Griot Groove tour. With an all-star ten piece band including Abdoulaye Diabate on keyboards The Griot Groove tour was possibly the greatest ever touring show to come out of West Africa.
