Manu and His Latino House, a showcase of talented international musicians who have joined Guatemalan composer/performer, Manu Ramirez, to make exiting & innovative Latin-Dance music fused with Afro-Caribbean influences. Formed by Manu 6 years ago, Latino House has since evolved into an exiting act that puts Latin Dance music on the agenda and the audience firmly on the dance-floor In recent years Manu's popularity has spread around Ireland and the band can now be seen at such venues as: The Gaiety Theatre Latin Club in Dublin, The Temple Bar Music Centre, The Dun Laoghaire Festival of World Cultures, The Cathedral Quarter Art Festival in Belfast, The Irish Film Centre and at many other auditoriums and venues across the country
Manu and his band have had residencies at The Everyman Palace Theatre, The Vineyard and Half Moon Clubs In Cork City and performed at the Guinness Jazz Festival on a number of occasions. Romantic, sensual, rhythmic and explosive, Latino House is a fiesta for the body, mind and spirit. Manu and His Latino House is a show that reflects the vibrancy of Latin-American music, traditional, modern and original. Manu's band can be as small as four people or as large as 15 with horn section and dancers. BIOGRAPHY Son of the great and famous pianist and composer -Emilio Ramirez Garcia, Manú Ramírez was born in Guatemala City and studied music at the Guatemalan National Conservatory of Music. Manú was the original founder and drummer of "PLASTICO PESADO" or "HEAVY PLASTIC" the first original rock band from Guatemala. This band later evolved into a more experimental original group called “QUETZALUMAN". Manu was later recruited to play drums in "PROPHECY" a band in the San Francisco bay area in California, where he lived for a number of years and played with different jazz and rock bands, some of these bands sharing the stage with famous groups including the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Manú also played bass for Blue Grass/Country western legend Pete Seeger. Manu is the founder and leader of RUMBA CASINO/LATINO HOUSE, a group which truly exposes Manu's Latin roots and has proved to be one of the most original, traditional and innovative Latin bands in Ireland.
