Not just ‘the son of the father’ but also the greatest living Afrobeat artist alive today.

Femi and his band, The Positive Force, deliver one of the most powerful and exciting performances on the World Music circuit today with elements of Jazz, hip hop and Latin fused into the irresistible framework of Afrobeat rhythms.

Femi Kuti's first album, Femi Kuti, released in 1995, was successful, but it was Shoki Shoki, released in 1999 that catapulted him into the forefront of African artists. Femi’s most recent creative piece ‘Fight to Win’ was described by BBC Radio 1 as ‘an excellent showcase of 21st century Afrobeat’.

Femi Kuti continues the tradition of Afro-beat invented by his father, Fela Kuti, but his own innovative character shines through in his music. His style is more dance floor and radio friendly than his father’s political-infused originals. Without moving away from his Afro-beat origins, Femi blends influences from Afrobeat to funk to jazz, into a single, thrilling whole.

We brought Femi and his band to Ireland in 2004 for a two date tour (Dublin & Limerick) and again in August 2006
