WICKED SHOW DE TOSH, MARLEY GIG BUT BEST OF ALL WAS THE RETURN TO THE CORK DECKS OF BELLYMAN.HE IS THE BEST REGGAE DJ I HAVE EVER HEARD AND IS CRIMINALLY UNDER USED ON THE CORK SCENE!! ANY CHANCE OF SEEING HIM MORE? THE MUSIC HE PLAYED THAT NIGHT WAS FANTASTIC, ITS A SHAME WE DIDNT GET TO HEAR MORE AFTER THE SHOW. HE WAS ALSO GREAT ON THE RADIO THE NIGHT BEFORE."  SOPHIE

Kerekes gig was off the scale!!! 11/10 ..saw the guys (Kerekes) in the Tikki and I haven't heard anything like it in there or anywhere else except maybe Jethro Tull 32nd anniversary gig in Italy, Pistoia Blues '99!!!....it certainly made our day and we were only dropping in as we passed on way to the bank from the addictive TV night at the Savoy. Just to say I was unfortunate to miss the culture gigs which I have heard were something else. I would definitely add my support for getting them to come back in December. That would be superb. I lived in Glasgow for 12 years but in the two and half years I have been in Limerick there has been more live reggae and world music artists. Keep up the good work and thanks. Hubert

Meant to get in touch with you earlier to say respect for bringing culture to Cork....the gig was too good to be making small talk!!!  It was an amazing vibe to have such a quality reggae act in the city. I was fortunate enough last week end to see Black Uhuru, Babba Maal and Burnuing Spear in London. Made one realise we are lucky to have organisations as yours bringing world music acts of such calibre to Cork. Respect! Kevin

Its a pleasure writing to youl. Great thanks to you for the job you are doing promoting African artists. I am an African/ Zimbabwean residing in Ireland. I have in the past attended shows organised by you in Limerick namely Albert Nyathi and Imbongi and lastly the guys from Senegal(Daara J). These have all been great shows and made me feel more proud to be African. The local people get to know about our culture as we learn theirs on a day to day basis. Thank you for your great work and look out for me at the Lucky Dube Show. Have tried getting everyone ready for the show. A full house is expected. Viva FeileAfrica,

Loved the Lo Jo gig in limerick the other night, keep bringing it along, I'm sure the audience will swell, I think everyone will bring a bigger gang with them next time. Maurice

Thanks for the work you are doing in supporting and showcasing African music in Ireland.  I really enjoyed the recent King Sunny Ade gig.  So much so that I wrote a poem about it and I thought you might like a copy.  It's my attempt to sum up what being there meant to me.

Just a quick note to say how great it was to see Femi in the Redbox last week.  I talked to one of the dancers later (I hope it wasn't that poor girl that had her passport stolen) and she said that hey would be back next year.  Do you have any info on this?  I'm a huge Fela fan (Fela obsessive actually) but the young lad is a great live performer.  Gerry

I recently attended the Femi Kuti gig in the Red Box.  I would like to inform you that the show was brilliant. I only found out that he was playing by pure chance. A lot of people I informed about the gig were very disappointed as they did not realise that Femi was playing in Dublin.  If they had realised, they would have attended. D

Well done with Orchestre Baobab, I saw them in Dublin when they were here previously and hugely enjoyed seeing them in Cork recently. Dara

Unfortunately I got home on August 1 so missed  the main festival...most of all Orchestra Baobab...but I did get to the Wailers..that was a great night, but you're right about the heat..it was stifling. Those lads should consider putting in some A/C...I'll be back in Cork in early October so can't wait for Daara J, and the The Skatalites...wow...Keep up the good work! Neil.

Congrats on the lineup for Feile Africa August activities. You continue to be the cutting edge world music provider in the South!! I have moved to Japan for a one (or two) year stay, so I will be keeping in touch from here. I finished the MPhil in Ethnic and Racial Studies at Trinity College, with a very good overall mark!! I've been getting your emails since attending the Oumou Sangare gig in Feb..it was my first visit to the Half Moon ...it's a great venue and it was a brilliant concert...Your newsletter is very informative and introduces me to musicians and artists that I wouldn't have previously had exposure to....I work in the Middle East and won't be home again 'till August so unfortunately I'm missing a lot of great gigs...You mention the festival in August...Are you able yet to give me any info on dates & line up?...I'm trying to organise dates for my hols...It'd be great if I could attend the festival while I'm there. ...i'd just like to say we really enjoyed Virginia's concert: a truly amazing voice and what a presence on stage!! As we heard about her purely by accident ( a sound engineer at Pierre Bensusan's gig in St. John's Listowel was playing her CD at the interval) we felt really privileged  to be there in the Half Moon. .... brilliant music: keep up the good work. Today on a Saturday through the Patrick Street jamboree, African drums play alongside the tin whistle hums and that may be the only hope for me to get the odd dance easily.  Encore to Mali and divas with the ability to free beauty and boundaries that hound me and me and me and me and me.  Trinity.
