The word Khelashi comes from a Romany word meaning "dancer" or "player". Romany language is based on Sanskrit but has adopted many words and expressions from different cultures during their travels. Khelashi Dance takes it's roots from ancient female dance forms shown in the many colours of the different styles of belly dance, African dance and flamenco as well as contemporary performance art and music.
Professional dancers and musicians of
different backgrounds are invited to join together to explore the heart of all
dance and create unique performances!
